Multiple recovery and disposal routes

One way or another, businesses have to find a way to manage their waste. The preferred options for the environment in the waste hierarchy are to reduce, reuse and recycle. With the help of some waste management know-how, that can seem achievable. But what happens if you need better guidance to keep on track? Or a move in the right direction just doesn’t seem possible for your type of waste?

“In giving you sustainable waste solutions we make a determined effort to push your waste materials up the waste hierarchy. We make sure we have the best disposal route in place before collection. If, unusually, we don’t have a route that’s right for you, we relish the challenge of finding one.”

Oliver Dymott

Head of Waste Solutions

We’ve helped businesses cut their landfill waste by 80% over the past 5 years

We’re dedicated to giving you the best waste solutions and helping you achieve your environmental targets. Our mission is to help you extract the maximum value from your waste and reduce the amount going to landfill.

We do this by having the option of different recovery or disposal routes. Your waste is prepared at our waste transfer station for its journey to a trusted processing partner within our network. Through recycling or recovery, waste materials can be used again or turned into other valuable resources. Whatever route is right for your waste stream, the details are transparent so you can see what is planned and achieved.

Problem:

Disposal – a disappointing D code in waste classification

Unfortunately, some treatment methods in the UK generate a D code for your waste. This means a percentage of the waste will end up in a landfill. Alternative routes in the UK are few and far between and often come at a cost.

Solution:

Recovery – a revitalising R code classification

Striving to reduce the impact of your waste on the planet? Keen to divert your waste away from landfill? Our sector-leading transfrontier shipments offer sustainable, compliant and cost-effective solutions for problematic waste streams. This includes oily rags and sludges, resins, isocyanates, flammable solids and filter cake

“Until it gets to its destination, your TFS waste is my responsibility. I make doubly sure the load not only looks good, but that it is securely and correctly packed.”

James Haley

Transfrontier Shipments Manager

Transfrontier shipments of waste

Transfrontier shipments (TFS) of combustible waste means it is diverted from landfill and sent for recovery at suitable facilities in Europe. Here the waste is incinerated at high temperatures to generate electricity. This energy-from- waste technique is one of the best available for recovering residual energy by processing non-recyclable waste into heat or power.

Only a handful of hazardous waste management providers can provide this service from the UK. Uniquely, we provide the highest number of TFS routes of anyone nationwide. We have a dozen operating routes to Sweden, Holland, Denmark and Germany.

Not sure if your waste streams are suitable for this movement and treatment process? Our technical experts can assess your waste and carry out testing at our on-site laboratory. Set to go, we will manage the whole process for you, from collection and packing to having the correct document approvals for your waste to be seamlessly transported by transfrontier specialists.

Benefits to you from TFS

  • Fully compliant and audited European routes
  • 100% diversion from landfill
  • Cost-effective recovery method for combustible and difficult waste
